About me & my family

My name is Danielle Collins; I am a graduate of Towson University with a B.S in Family Studies and Community Development (Human Service). I also have a certification as a Certified Family Life Educator, CFLE. I am currently CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration certified. I have worked with children in PAL (police athletic league), my internship (young parent support center), as well as the YMCA before and after care program and preschool. I also did several nanny and babysitting jobs for friends and family. Initially, I majored in Early Childhood Education but decided to take on Families Studies, as this major is multidisciplinary and focuses on the entire family and community as a whole. I’ve always wanted to work with children and become a schoolteacher since a child. I love the idea of teaching children and challenging their brains (as the first 5 years are when the brain develops most). I have a 10-year-old daughter who I take pride in teaching so many new things. My daughter is currently attending school and will be a part of daycare on days when school is closed as well as summer months. As a parent I’ve learned so many different ways to teach children the most basic as well as difficult things. What I’ve learned is patience is the most important factor to everything. I’ve always learned that learning has to be fun for children, which I plan to incorporate into my program. Though I am not a center in a building as of yet, I plan to run my program as such. My ultimate goal is to run a successful learning center where I will be able to be the child first source of learning alongside parents.  I will treat each and every child in my center as if they were my own, offering safety, nurture, education, love, caring, and structure. I also have one dog, toy poodle, which is up to date with all vaccines etc.
